2004

The City of Philadelphia seizes a number of stables, destroying the structures and clearing the land for housing development. As a result, Fletcher Street Stables becomes one of the only remaining black backyard stables in Philadelphia.

It’s at this time that Erin Brown is asked to oversee one of the barns on Fletcher Street, helping the organization shift resources to accommodate the sudden influx of horses and riders. Brown remains at Fletcher Street for 10 years before leaving in 2014 to work as Police Civilian Caretaker for the horses of the Philadelphia Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit.
