March 2017

Eric Miller is released on parole after 10 years in prison. Almost immediately after his release, Miller is at the courthouse when he meets Ricky and his Neighborhood Film Co. (NFCo) partner, Dan Walser, who are there to speak with parolees about NFCo’s apprenticeship program.

During the course of the conversation, Ricky and Dan learn about Eric’s involvement in the Philadelphia black urban riding community, rekindling Ricky’s earlier interest in making Ghetto Cowboy into a feature film.

It’s also right around this time that Eric strikes up a friendship with Erin Brown. Erin has recently returned to manage Fletcher Street Stables, and she helps Eric exercise, train, and resell his many horses. It’s Eric who introduces Erin to Ricky, Dan, and film producer Staci Hagenbaugh at a Fletcher Street BBQ.
